Christians: Can someone be gay and still be a Christian?

I have several friends who are gay, and are devout Christians. They have tried to be attracted to women, but they are never happy doing this, and are naturally attracted to men. Can they still be followers of God, and gay? Also, for those who use the argument that they can't partake in actions and be Christian: the bible says that thought and action are equal. Lusting is the same as committing a ually immoral act. Personally, I think they absolutely can. Whether we like it or not, we all sin, Christian or non Christian. We sin even realizing that we are sinning. If uality is a sin, God is not going to send someone to hell/condem them just because they were born gay, or at least no more than a Christian who commits "normal" sins.
