Any idea on what subjunctive conditionals are?

I am doing a philosophy project on John Stuart Mills theory of phenomenalism and I have found out that he thinks that permenant possibilities of something existing mean that something exists. He has broken down these permenant possibilities into subjunctive conditionals but I don't know what they are. Any help?
