Do you usually try to listen to the artists/groups that influenced your fav. artists/groups?

I usually try to listen to the original songs of samples from my favorite RHH songs, and i try to listen to the artists or groups that influenced my favorite artists and groups. Like TLC has sampled the supremes, so i've become a fan of the supremes now, and redman was influenced by the "Maggot Brain" album, so i've started to become a fan of the song Maggot Brain. Do you ever find yourself doing this too or no?
